Learn the skills involved in carving limestone in a day’s workshop. All materials, tools and tuition included (along with a constant flow of hot drinks and biscuits!) Classes are a maximum of six adults, although I tend to keep to four where possible. You don’t need to come with friends - most people book as a one or a pair and enjoy the company of like-minded carvers.
You make and take home a piece of your own for home or garden.
Courses are held in our beautiful lochside garden or in my heated workshop by Loch Tay, Perthshire - depending on the weather.
I have run these courses for many years in Oxfordshire, but relocated to Tayside in the summer of 2026, and am looking forward to welcoming guests to this stunning location. You can even go for a loch swim afterwards to wash off the dust!
Get together with friends and family to make a group, or reserve a place just for you. Gift vouchers are available (carved in stone!) for you to have something solid to wrap.
You don’t need to think of yourself as artistic, or have done something similar before. All the examples on this page were made by complete beginners in one day. Check out some of the comments made by previous clients here.
The day runs from 9.30-5.00 and costs £125. You keep whatever you make, and I guarantee that you will produce a finished piece to your own, or my, design. You don’t need to be able to draw, you don’t need any experience, you don’t need to think of yourself as ‘artistic’. You can do this!
Fancy hosting? Sculpture-in-a-day on tour - I bring everything to you. You provide your lunch, your guests and a space approx 4mx4m which can get dusty - a barn, garage or large shed is ideal, with an outdoor option for good weather. £140 per person, with possible travel costs and accommodation added for very distant venues. Up to six guests. For family and friend groups I am happy to include children aged 11 upwards provided there is enough adult supervision, otherwise courses are adults only. Contact me to discuss your group and to agree a date. I have full DBS certification, available on request. Brilliant for a family birthday or a get-together with friends.
The day has a degree of physicality, but you can sit all day if you need to. You don’t need to be particuarly strong or fit. My oldest client was well into his 90s, and I have had a number of disabled clients have a happy and successful day. Contact me to discuss your needs.
